Welcome to the BHGC website

Dear flying friends,

In 2010 the Open Belgian Hang Gliding Championship will again be organised at Laragne from July 25th until July 31st. We chose Laragne because we expect a number of new pilots and want to offer them the best possible conditions for XC flying.

New is that the competition will be organized as an FAI 2 competition, thus awarding you with points for the world ranking.

The competition will be led by William Sterckx, Vice President of the Belgian Free Flight Federation. And of course we hope for the cooperation of a lot of volunteers.

The following categories will be scored:

  • Open Belgian Championship Class 1 (all flex wings)
  • Open Belgian Championship Class 5 (all rigid wings)
  • Belgian Championship Class 1. The best Belgian pilot with a flex wing will be awarded with the title of Belgian Champion.
  • Belgian Championship Class 5 (at least 6 participating pilots needed)
  • Sport Class Championship (for kingpost gliders)
  • Female Classification
The participants of the Sport Class will also be accounted for in the Class 1 rankings. This leaves the theoretical possibility of a kingposted glider pilot becoming Belgian Champion.

To attract and help new pilots (and it looks as there will be many), we will work with a "coach" this year. This coach is a experienced pilot who will assist the new pilots, meaning he will analyze the task with those who are interested. And in the evening he will also lead a debriefing. Michel Blockx is keen to accept this task.

The registration fee is €50 if registered before May 1st, 2010.
Later registrations pay €75.
Registration closes on Saturday night, July 24th, 2010.
There will be a retrieval service for an extra fee of €50. Please bear in mind that entries for the retrieval service are limited. First come, first serve...
